The Silvery Slocan Historical Society's mandate is to collect and preserve in the catchment area between Enterprise Creek, Hills, across the Slocan Lake and up to Three Forks.

The current museum building in New Denver was constructed by the Bank of Montreal in 1897. It is one the last remaining wooden banks and houses an original brick vault (possibly the last of its kind in BC). The bank closed in 1969 and the Village of New Denver purchased the building. The Silvery Slocan Historical Society was then established in 1970. Through volunteer efforts, the building was extensively renovated to reflect the post 1890 era. The site also houses the Internment Security Commission office. We have a good collection of local artifacts and archives. and our collection is ongoing. We will collect artifacts from 1890 to 1950 (with allowances for special collections, i.e. Sinixt, the American Influx of the 1970’s).
